⭐ WOW Factor: One of the very few Nokia phones ever built exclusively for China’s TD-SCDMA network – effectively locked to a single country and produced in extremely limited quantities.
👁 Evaluation in my collection: BNIB – 10/10
🕵 Nokia Codename: Harbin
⏱ Life timer: 0m | 📦 Boxed: YES
📅 Release Year: 2010 | 💰 Release Price: ~90 €
📊 Units Sold: ~200k
📰 Why this phone matters: The Nokia 6788i (RM-636) is a China-only smartphone released in 2010, designed specifically for China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA/GSM dual-mode network. Constructed around a solid metal frame with metallic accent panels, the 6788i features a premium sliding mechanism and rugged build quality rarely found in region-exclusive Nokia devices. This model was created during Nokia’s short-lived TD-SCDMA development phase, and because the technology existed only in China, the 6788i never reached the eur;opean or international market. Production volumes were extremely limited, and nearly all units stayed within China Mobile’s distribution channels – making surviving examples extremely rare for collectors worldwide.
The phone runs a China-specific firmware package and represents a unique combination of Nokia industrial design, metal-slider craftsmanship, and a specialized 3G technology Nokia used only once.
This particular unit is BNIB (Brand New In Box) – an exceptionally difficult condition to find for any China-exclusive Nokia, elevating it to true museum-grade status within any serious Nokia collection.

Nokia N78
Quick View💎 Rarity Index: C (Common)
⭐ WOW Factor: The first Nokia phone with the new extended guitar-based version of the Nokia Tune
👁 Evaluation in my collection: Great – 9.5/10
⏱ Life timer: 130h | 📦 Boxed: NO
📅 Release Year: 2008 | 💰 Release Price: ~350 €
📊 Units Sold: ~2M
📰 Why this phone matters: The Nokia N78 is a 3G smartphone made by Nokia. It was first introduced at the Mobile World Congress on 11 February 2008, and was launched on 26 May 2008 for &eur;o;350 before taxes and subsidies. It runs on Symbian 9.3 (S60 3rd Edition, FP2) and was marketed as a more cheaper Nseries device inside a compact, light body. The phone is compatible with the N-Gage 2.0 mobile gaming service. It is the successor of the N73 and its design shares similarities with the N81, N82 and N96. Despite its relatively low price, the Nokia N78 does still pack numerous standard Nseries features such as A-GPS, HSDPA and Wi-Fi. It has a touch-sensitive Navi wheel like on the N81, and was the first Nokia (and among the first overall, along with Sony Ericsson W980) to feature an FM transmitter. Its keypad is hidden in idle mode and lights up when a key is pressed. It did not however become popular like the N73 was. Later in 2008 the Nokia N79 was introduced.
The Nokia N78 was also the first Nokia phone with the new extended guitar-based version of the Nokia Tune.
